Limehurst Academy Access Control System
Limehurst Academy (formerly Limehurst High School), a mixed secondary school, commissioned AIS Security to implement a state-of-the-art access control system at their site in Loughborough.
AIS has a wealth of experience designing, installing, and maintaining bespoke access control systems that address the specific needs and challenges of extensive, muti building facilities.
Limehurst Academy Access Control System Requirements
After an initial consultation with the key personnel at the site, we established a list of key objectives that the new system needed to include:
The Reduction/Elimination of Keys – the new system needed to reduce the reliance on bulky sets of keys, the difficulties associated with managing master keys, and the prohibitive costs associated with changing multiple locks when a key is lost/misplaced.
Personalised Access Plans – the new system must allow the creation of personalised access plans that enable staff/students to access areas relevant to them. In addition to this, the system needed to allow time-based access plans.
Easy Management – the system needed to be managed via a centralised system.
Multiple Access Options – the new access control system needed to enable door stations to be operated using various access options, including traditional cards and fobs, biometric solutions (facial recognition and fingerprint etc.), and mobile devices such as smartphones and smartwatches.
Time & Attendance – the new system needed to generate reports on who is on-site and arrival/ departure times.
Alarm Integration – the new access control system needed to integrate with fire and intruder alarms to simplify building management (such as automatic door release in the event of a fire etc.).
Expandable – the new system needed to allow future expansion into other sites controlled by the education trust, allowing key trust personnel access to multiple locations using a single access token (fob, card, fingerprint etc.).
The Solution
In this instance, AIS installed the market-leading Paxton 10 system, which offers a secure, convenient, flexible, and cost-effective way of controlling who has access to your buildings and when that access is allowed.
Paxton10’s modular, one-door controller architecture provides a cost-effective solution that supports CCTV camera and door management via a single cloud-based interface. One server can support up to 1000 doors across multiple sites.
The system allows access using traditional access tokens such as cards and fobs. In addition to this, it will enable access via contactless methods such as mobile phones and smartwatches. The system can also be accessed using the latest facial recognition devices, which combine temperature screening (this has proven very effective during the Covid pandemic).
Paxton10 allows doors to be secured using magnetic locks and electric strike locks. In addition to this, the system can be wirelessly installed on legacy doors using PaxLock door handles.
Installation
Before the commencement of the installation, AIS carried out a RAMS and submitted all relevant documentation (insurance, IPAF, Enhanced DBS certificates etc.).
Every member of our installation team has up to date Enhanced DBS background checks.
Immediate Tangible Results
The system had an immediate positive impact, enabling easy access management across the site.
The feedback from all interested parties at the site has been overwhelmingly positive.
